Turk's back! What's next?


Turk's Crawling Dungeon is out of hiatus!

Hiya guys, Noah here! It's been a long three years, but since halting development of TCD in 2022, a lot has gone on! For starters, I've been on the mend with regards to my mental health -- these past three years have brought about a lasting, if partial, recovery from my Bipolar II diagnosis. Managing my mental wellbeing will be a lifelong road for me to walk, but with the lifestyle changes and coping strategies I've developed over these recent years, I am more ready than ever to pursue my passion for game development!

What's in store?

Right now, I'm gonna get the game to a truly playable state. The last build, 0.4.0, was broken as heck -- like, "doesn't get past the loading screen for some people" broken. Because of this, I've removed the download link from the game's page, but 0.3.x builds will still be available for download.

Working as a programmer has refined my ability to manage a piece of software as complex as Turk's, and I'm hoping the skills I've strengthened will mean the next release, 0.5.0, will be a far better representation of the game I want TCD to become!

The new version's overhaul will mean less bloat, less stuttering, better UI, a much, much more intuitive gameplay loop... and more!

How can I keep tabs on development?

Well, I should will be posting devlog entries as I go!

Additionally, you can find me on Bluesky (so long, Twitter/X), where I'll be posting content not only for Turk's Crawling Dungeon, but also for new projects involving Turk, the World of Sharps (the setting for Turk's narrative), and my new indie game studio/cooperative!

That's the gist of it! I'm really happy to be back! :)
